A response to The Small Web Discoverability Crisis.
An excellent tool for exploring the small web can be found here.
Blogs
- Frills - This site is really pretty. Daw Frills o Gymru! 🏴
- Ahn - Every page on this site is beautifully designed. Blogs about a range of creative topics.
- Marginalia (Viktor Löfgren) - The website that helped me discover the small web. I’m working my way through this “weblog” post by post.
- Flamed Fury - The design of this site oozes Web 2.0. I love the energy.
- The History of the Web - Some great reads if you’re already exploring the small web culture, and some insightful blog posts.
- Robin Sloan - Great opinions on AI, programming, and tech. His eBook template is also really cool!
- Wavebeem - Sage’s blog is great - content on everything, but with a focus on video games and web design.
- Gwern - An excellently designed website with great typography. If you go looking for a global RSS feed and don’t find one, you aren’t going mad - Gwern states that this is intentional.
Cool
- Little Worlds - A neat project that generates a new tiny world every refresh. Great for prompting stories.
- Orb.farm - Chill terrarium game.
- Sandspiel - Like Orb.farm, but more of a sandbox.
- The Boat - A really cool visual novel experience. Use headphones.
- The Voynich Manuscript - A site I’m only just scratching the surface off, but what a cool curio!
- Nightfall City - A whole city to explore (in text format).
- The Useless Web - Click a button, get a random HTML dopamine hit.
